About QMC
QMC Cranes was born out of necessity. In the 60s, contractors buying septic tanks doubled as logistics specialists since they had to book a crane for every delivery. Constant coordination between contractors, crane companies, property owners, and manufacturers was causing quite the headache.

Of course, crane operators were happy with this arrangement. More work is never bad. But this whole process was cumbersome for contractors and precasters. Jack Dorris, QMC’s founder and a precast concrete veteran, figured precasters could be more competitive if they could deliver and set the customer’s product without dialing up a crane company.
And boy, was he right. He developed his first rear-mounted boom truck under the trade name Quik Lift. Then, a few years later, he changed his company’s name to QMC, which stands for “Quick Manufacturing Company.”

It’s kind of funny, over the years, many folks, including our own employees, didn’t even know what QMC stood for. Everyone just figured it was an acronym for “Quality Made Cranes,” which is fitting because that’s what we’ve become known for.
We don’t have dealerships, we don’t have showrooms, we don’t pump out 10,000 cranes per year. Instead, we work directly with our customers to build them a boom truck they can rely on for decades to get its engine roaring every morning.

Today, QMC is doing things a little bit differently. Don’t worry, we’re still ready to work directly with you to build the best custom boom trucks in the world. But now, we want to live up to our original name and get our customers the same QMC quality, but quicker.
That’s why we are now offering four ready to go standard boom trucks for businesses that can’t wait a moment longer. So, if you need a custom crane, we still do that. But, if one of our stock trucks checks all your boxes, let us know and drive it off the lot.
